Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operate, maintain and repair main and emergency generators.
• start up and bring on line generators for parallel or split plant operation.
• Adjust load, power factor and frequency of generator.
• Monitor operating parameters of generators including but limited to temperature of generator, frequency, load sharing and protective devices.
• Repair or replace defective components as necessary.
• Operate, maintain and repair D.C. Power Conversion (SCR) including setting up systems for desired operating modes, clean, inspect breakers, motor starters, main contractors and electronic components.
• Troubleshoot and repair or replace SCR stacks, PC boards, contractors, breakers, control logic (solid state and relay) and related circuitry.
• Maintain transformers including cleaning, inspection and testing of insulation of windings.
• Maintain and repair generator switch including troubleshooting and meter load, voltage, frequency, kvar and power factor.
• Troubleshoot and repair air and vacuum breakers, breakers and protective devices, voltage regulators and governor electronic control on generator switch gear.
• Operate switchboard controls. Close and open distribution feeder circuit breakers and isolate circuits.
• Ensure that power is available and execute shut down in a kick/blowout.
• Secure ventilation system and/or power to affected area in a fire.
• Maintain and repair D.C. motors.
• Maintain and repair A.C. motors.
• Maintain and repair across the on line or reduced voltage motor starters.
• Install, troubleshoot and repair multiple start-stop stations, switches (transducers, flow, lever, pressure, proximity, flow temperature etc.); timers, relays and solid state switching devices.
• Repair BOP electrical control and indication system.
• Operate, maintain and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Repair miscellaneous galley appliances and equipment.
• Repair hot water heaters.
• Maintain all fire detection and emergency equipment.
• Maintain and repair washing machines and dryers in the laundry.
• Maintain all lighting.
• Maintain and repair auxiliary electric brake.
• Maintain and repair all electrical equipment associated with pipe handling machines, top drive units, mud pumps, draw works and cranes as per preventative maintenance systems.
• Maintain, repair, connect, disconnect or isolate any other equipment installed either permanently or temporarily.
• Maintain and repair all fire/combustible gas/toxic gas detection and alarm equipment.
• Protect equipment from corrosion & mud.
read electrical schematics and electrical wiring diagrams, use technical manuals and references, find and interpret information and ensure that relevant information is available for equipment.
• Perform basic power calculations such as resistance, poser factor and voltage drop etc.
• Ensure oscilloscopes, multi-meters and test equipment is available and serviced.
• Perform tests such as insulation test, vibration tests, resistive load bank, dielectric absorption and D.C high potential tests etc.
• Know and understand all relevant rules for electrical equipment installed in hazardous zones and comply with same.
• Perform electrical isolation. Perform Lock out / Tag out.
• Maintain daily log and maintenance records.
• Prepare periodic report on work done and planned.
• Report on operating procedures and equipment failures.
• Monitor spares and supplies; suggest re-order limit changes if necessary. Request needed parts or equipment as necessary.
• Coordinate with other departments and assist during troubleshooting or repair.
• Advise his supervisor of current and/or changing conditions.
• Supervise assigned subordinates and set priorities on work.
• Ensure that Safety Management System Procedures and Practices are followed.
• Aware of duties and responsibilities in emergency situations.

Job Overview

Relevant Engineering degree (Electrical Engineer/Mechatronics).
- 2+ years if relevant experience
- Good English Level
- Good Communication Skills
