As a Rig Doctor/Medic, you will provide first aid treatment to injured and sick personnel and coordinate Medivac with EDC Head Office and the Client.

Job Overview

Provide first aid to injured personnel. Treatment beyond first aid should be transferred from the rig (Medivac).

• Provide emergency medical treatment for sick personnel. Regular/Extended medical treatment should be transferred from the rig (Medivac).

• Complete and keep up to date the medical treatment log.

• Comply with the Medivac Procedure for sick and injured personnel.

• Coordinate Medivac with the Company Doctor and the Client (when required).

• Shall acquaint yourself with EDC Incident Reporting Procedure and shall report to STP and EDC Cairo Medical accordingly.

• Shall fulfill his role and responsibilities in an emergency situation.

• Shall acquaint yourself with EDC Emergency Response Procedure and the Operator’s.

• Shall coordinate and conduct first aid drills at the rig and the accommodation area.

• Shall provide training on first aid to designated personnel.

• Shall manage and report cases of infectious diseases and shall carry proper isolation procedure in consultations with EDC Cairo Medical Team and the Health Authorities (as appropriate).

• Perform and participate in hygienic inspection onboard. The inspections shall include all the areas on the rig, however particular interest to be paid towards all rooms where food is prepared and stored, laundry rooms, linen and clothing storage rooms, sanitary rooms, cabins and recreation rooms.

• Shall acquaint yourself with EDC Catering and Hygienic Procedure and implement same.

• Shall support Rig Management in all matters concerning health and hygiene.

• Shall report health and hygiene concerns to Rig Management and to Cairo Medical Team as appropriate.

• Check and arrange for supply of medical equipment and medicines for the clinic. Keep the lists of medicines and equipment up to date.

• Check and re-supply as necessary the contents of the first aid lockers and the eye washing stations.

• Shall maintain register of personnel chronic diseases and shall administer medication (when practical).

• Shall perform medical test to personnel exposed to work related illnesses as decided by the Company.

• Give advice and guidance when handling materials that could be health hazards, using MSDS.

• Assist the STP with administrative work as required, inclusive making new personnel acquainted with the rig, in particular escape routes and mustering stations.

• Filing all documents regarding the treatment of patients in a proper and confidential manner.



Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Medicine
Must have 3+ years of experience
License to Practice Medicine
Oil & Gas Experience is preferred
General Practitioner
